For these tough economic times, people losing their benefits, their jobs and rising costs of Dental and Health Care,  here are some great money saving tips!

1) Floss as often as possible! Flossing is the cheapest most effective thing you can do for your oral care. Even if you only floss once per week it will still help to reduce bacteria that your tooth brush can't reach. The type of bacteria that cause gum disease are also able to increase your risk of stroke, heart attack and some cancers. Being a regular flosser will save you a ton of money and time in the dental chair and may just save your life : )

2) Use an electric tooth brush. Electric brushes remove 70% more plaque than manual brushes. It's best to get a rechargeable brush with a 2 minute timer. These brushes range in price from $25-$125. We like Sonicare and Braun/OralB brushes.

3) Ask your Dentist if you should use a prescription tooth paste. We love the prescription strength paste Clinpro because the fluoride keeps the enamal surface strong and the calcium-phosphate remineralizes the pores of the teeth. These types of pastes help to protect your teeth from daily acid attack s s  ss   ssss s and are especially helpful for those who have daily pop or coffee habits.

4 Use a pH balanced, alcohol free mouth wash. To help control bacteria, bad breath and Dry Mouth. Avoid rinses containing alcohol due to it can be too drying on oral tissues. We like rinses such as Closys, Biotene and Crest Pro Health.

5) Use Xylitol. Xylitol is a natural sugar that is proven to reduce the bacteria that cause tooth decay, ear and sinus infections and help with Dry Mouth. Xylitol is available in many forms, such as; gum, mints, paste, spray, rinse, wipe, packets and bulk. You may find it online, health food stores and grocery stores. (Health Food stores also carry Dental Probiotics)

6) Eat a balaced diet!  Eat lots of VEGGIES, whole grains, fruit and lean meat. Try to avoid processed foods. Stay away from High Fructose Corn Syrup/Sugar, MSG, Bleached/Enriched flour, Partially Hydrogenated Oils and chemicals you can't pronounce.

7) Visit your Dentist regularly. Please do not let the fact that you may not have insurance stop you from comming to your dentist. The fact is that insurance companies do not have your best interest at heart! Look out for your own health and plan to save enough money to visit your dentist twice per year.
